Who is David ,,,,
David first is a family man, he is happily married to Fabiola and they have 3 great kids, Eric, Byron and Karin. Not only does David and Fabiola work hard in thier church but so do the kids.
After many years of pastoring a church in a rented building the Central Christiano de Cultural de Guatemala church decided to build a church of their own. They began selling tamales and fired fish to make money to build with.
David decided to build the church in one of the worst neighborhoods in Guatemala City. Everyone said David we could build in a nice place. But he wanted to make a difference in neighborhoods that had no help. so before the church was even finished they began feeding 35 children who lived in tin shacks in the slums. They would get up at 4:30 every morning and travel to the church by bus or taxi at their own expense and cook a breakfast of eggs and fruit and the first wholesome meal many of these kids ever had.
David was not satisfied with that, he decided to increase the number to over 100 kids within the first year. they used person funds and everything they had to keep the program going.
Now the children are being fed a nutritious breakfast each morning and then given and after-school program to keep them of the streets and out of the dangerous gangs.
The program has been so successful that the gang in that neighborhood has now dissolved.
David’s plans are to now go into the next neighborhood and duplicate the successful program to save the kids.
David also supports his family with a small business. However the economy has been hit hard with one natural disaster after another here in Guatemala and Central America. His business is very slow and he and his brother are looking for other ways to support their families.
while doing the work at the children’s feed program and teach and preaching as the head pastor, David also works with secular medical groups such as the Medical team from UCLA and the Rotary International. David was selected as the only non-doctor in Guatemala to represent Guatemala on a tour of Eastern Canada and the USA for the Rotary.
David is also one of Guatemala’s first and finest Firefighter Paramedics. He was instrumental in bringing the paramedic program to Guatemala 8 years ago. He was just voted into the office of director of Station 10 of the Bomberos Volunterios (Volunteer Firemen) as their director.
David also takes care of any patients I have in the remote areas of the Rio Dulce region when they need hospital care or lodging. He puts them up at his home for free and takes them to the appropriate medical facility.
David also host many medical and dental teams from the USA to help do medical and dental care for the villages in Guatemala that have no medical or dental care.
